Teach Your Children Well
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. It is common knowledge that so much of the crime that plagues cities is driven by substance abuse – crimes that are com-mitted by those to support their habits.
Faith in Families believes that the key to making significant inroads in the fight against substance abuse is to help both parents and educators to learn how to approach their children at home and students in schools and com-municate to them about these problems.
While losing parents’ respect and pride may be one of the reasons some youth don’t abuse alcohol and other drugs, it is ironic that many parents remain silent. Why? This is simply because they don’t know how to broach this sensitive subject with them. The simple action of talking to young children and teens about substance abuse does, all by itself, help our children and communities en-ormously.
