Welcome to Faith in Families’ blog website!
Among other matters, this ‘space’ inside the Web will explore ideas and foster discussion of issues relating to how whanau in New Zealand can trans-form itself and become better off socially, finan-cially and culturally. In doing so, Faith in Families aims to become a trusted resource who fully ans-wers the questions, in a language people under-stand, in a place they can easily find.
AN ERA FOR EMPOWERMENT
A powerful global shift is happening. Today, people are talking with each other – hundreds of millions of them in countries across the globe! The Internet is enabling conversations among us. People are discovering that they can invent fresh ways to share relevant knowledge with amazing speed. And you know what? It’s empowering and liberating them.
This monumental shift continues to grow because now they all can communicate in language that is direct, honest, open, natural, funny, sometimes awkward and, in some instances, even shocking. People are speaking out and to each other in a powerful new way.
PARTICIPATION IS THE KEY
New and robust forms of social organisation are emerging. Participation in a world networked as it is today changes people fundamentally. It is a key that opens up new doors.
Human communities are based on discourse. People are rediscovering that they can get far better information and support from one another. Humans talking about human concerns, theirs and yours. Discourse allows the exchange of knowledge to emerge. Whether it’s providing information, expressing opinions or humorous asides, explaining, complaining, joking or sounding serious – these human voices are open, natural, uncontrived and are unmistakably, real.
People and organisations that do not belong to a community of discourse are missing out on perhaps one of the best opportunities around. There are no secrets that stay hidden for long. Whether news is good or bad, they tell everyone. And everyone ends up telling you, that is, if you stay connected.
FOR A BETTER WORLD
We invite you and all members of your whanau to join hands with us as stakeholders in this growing community of common interests, one that will help build a better world for yourselves and the generations that will spring forth from us.
